Sandra Velazquez is the CEO and Founder of Nopalera. Nopalera is a company on Shark Tank Season 14 looking for a shark to partner with her on her business. Nopalera is a sustainable line of botanicals in the bath and body space influenced by the Mexican culture. So who is Sandra Velasquez and what is she all about? Let’s find out now.
1. Sandra Velasquez grew up in California to immigrant Mexican parents. Currently she resides in New York City. Growing up there were nopales (a plant in Mexico), everywhere for Sandra. As she grew older she decided to use them for artisan bath and body products. That was when the company was born.
2. She began Nopalera in November of 2020 out of Brooklyn, New York.
3. Prior to Nopalera, Sandra Velazquez worked in a number of different capacities including in sales for HiBar and Mast Brothers Chocolate, then for Van Leeuwen Artisan Ice Cream as the NYC Area Sales manager from January 2020 – May 2021. Following this she focused on beauty and was part of multiple beauty programs including True Beauty Ventures Bridge Mentorship Program, Clean Beauty Summer School 2022, and Latino Start Up of the Year 2022.
4. In addition to working on the company, Nopalera, she also has her own podcast. In it she has 19 episodes and counting as of January 2023. She speaks with different guests about money, partnerships, community and more.
